Review and Planning Workshop

Back to all articles

We had a great turnout last Thursday at Natural Kendal’s Review and Planning Workshop at the Eddington Centre, with a really thoughtful and constructive discussion throughout the evening.

Partners and local supporters helped us reflect on the past year of Nature Recovery work and shape priorities for the year ahead. Conversations covered key areas including how Kendal can support the Cumbria Local Nature Recovery Strategy, the future of the Natural Kendal education programme, and ways to strengthen community engagement through events like the Farmers Market, the Nature Recovery Festival and social media.

There was also strong interest in Mapping Kendal’s Open Spaces for People and Nature (MOSPAN), a project that will play an important role in developing an emerging green infrastructure strategy for the town and supporting a series of community-led nature recovery projects.

The past year has been an important one for officially launching Natural Kendal and building partnerships with organisations delivering practical action on the ground. Community engagement has been central to that work, and the workshop marked a useful step towards identifying both the opportunities and challenges of delivering nature recovery in an urban setting.

Thanks to everyone who came along and contributed — the ideas and perspectives shared will directly inform our work in the year ahead.
